After nearly three and a half months of the most life changing trip of my life, I have ventured back to the southern hemisphere. A short trip this time, and a very different pace and dynamic. For one, I’ll be here for just over two weeks, and I shall be reaping the heaping benefits of travelling with your parents.
We arrived in Quito late a couple days ago, pulling in at around 2 in the morning. We found out cabbie and drove through the outskirts of Quito to arrive at the hostel. Despite being a cut in the wall, and maybe only 10 meters wide, this hostel is great.
The place is right in the middle of the historical district and is a short walk from anything you might want to do here. Grab a room on the bottom floor if you can.
Yesterday was a short day to get our bearings. We ventured to the centre of town, past the odd clown on stilts and hundreds of street merchants selling everything from umbrellas to tic tacs.
It seemed to be a day of churches, which are impressive in their scale and grandeur. After 3 months of South American churches and central plazas though, everything starts to be less about the local architecture and more about the people you meet.
Altogether, it is nice to be back on the continent, and exploring a different part that I missed entirely. South America is huge, and every time we visit we only see a sliver of it, but the beauty of that sliver makes the whole trip worth it in the end.

Thanks for the blog ‘Gordon’ miss you guys and travel safe
